if you use the IP addresses everything will be much more reliable

when you use the device name, cast needs to find it first and then do the casting

when you use the IP address it just casts to the device at that IP address

if you use IP addresses you will likely need set them up as static in your router; i.e. they won't be dynamically resigned from time to time. If you don't know how to approach this just google for it and your router make and model

Anyways, it's not a big deal if one or two of the devices aren't showing up, but the problem is if one of the devices are not seen by cast, then the command doesn't run at all. It would be nice if we could type a command to force it to still cast to other devices that are in the device list, even if all of them are not detected.

Here's the command I currently want to use:
-device "Bathroom Speaker" "Bedroom Display" "Living Room Display" "Kitchen Display" -voice Microsoft Zira Desktop -volume 60 -text Yes, your computer is on

The command works fine if I send it to a device that is currently detected by -inventory. Would sending the cast commands directly to the IP of the devices instead of the name make any difference?

if you left-click on it and select Actions - Edit from the menu bar, it will open up in edit mode.

if you left-click on it and press F4, it will open up in edit mode.

Hope this will help for the time being.

I just noticed that when I try to search for a card, then double click to edit it, it doesn't seem to allow this behavior. I'm not sure if this is a bug or more so a feature request, it would be nice option though.

Thanks

Jeff

The other thing is, it's very difficult to export all the cards. I have to one by one drag each one which takes a very long time. In addition it is a little tricky because for some reason the drag n drop isn't all that responsive so you have to click and drag a few times before a single entry actually drags.

I've not looked into it much yet, but it would involve using powershell to extract their metadata.

This article gave me the idea https://devblogs.microsoft.com/scriptin ... owershell/

For my use case, I was trying to get an intermediary program such as cast.exe or AirParrot3 to cast the music back to my Google home speaker and that unfortunately has been where I've spent most of my time. I couldn't get cast or alternatives to work and AirParrot3 has been difficult to reliably automate. None of these issues have anything to do with your script though!!!!

I'm planning on playing around with it again hopefully before next week. I will focus specifically on your script this time and give you feedback :)

This script is useful if you have songs that are in languages other than English. It also includes a few different song formats.

CODE:

Get-ChildItem -Path "C:\musicfolder1", "D:\musicfolder2" -Include *.mp3,*.m4a,*.wma,*.m4p,*.m4v,*.wav,*.mp2,*.ogg,*.flac,*.mpga -Recurse -File| ForEach-Object { % { $_.FullName }} | Out-File -Encoding UTF8 -FilePath "C:\MediaSort\Mp3List.txt"

I'm hoping to use this in conjunction with AirParrot3 to stream the music from my computer back to my google home device! A bit like my own personal music streaming service :)
