First configuration issues / Instruction improvements

Post by bgsdeluxe »

Hi Rob,

unfortunately I have issues getting push2run to work properly.
My hardware:
I wanted to be able to voice control my Windows 10 machine from my Android mobile. No other smart hardware is present and needs to be connected.
I followed your instruction and everything seems to be fine. Because you didn't clarified this I also installed IFTTT and pushbullet apps on my Android device. Maybe you should think about adding this part to your instruction.
  • Pushbullet on Windows recognized both my devices (Windows machine/Galaxy S7).
  • I can send text messages within Pushbullet from one device to another.
  • IFTTT applet contains my computer name in title.
  • All accounts are created with the same google account.
  • All accounts are newly created and activated and not suspended.
  • In push2run on Windows I have "Pushbullet connection is good".
Push2run session log:2019-07-30 15:22:24.741 - Push2Run version 2.2.0.0 started

2019-07-30 15:22:24.777 - Windows UAC notify feature is on

2019-07-30 15:22:24.777 - Normal privileges are in effect

2019-07-30 15:22:24.850 - Current network adapter is Ethernet

2019-07-30 15:22:24.875 - Network status is up

2019-07-30 15:22:26.667 - Connection with Pushbullet established

2019-07-30 16:30:21.378 - Incoming push ...
2019-07-30 16:30:21.379 - <Title>
2019-07-30 16:30:21.382 - <Body> Test
2019-07-30 16:30:21.392 - Title did Not match Push2Run's title filter - no further action will be taken

But everytime I am giving the command to open calculator, the Google Assistant on my Android only brings up suggestions for the Google Search. When checking the connection on IFTTT all I get as a reply is "Connection checked" and "Never run".
I already read through the forum to get an idea of what might be the reason, but didn't come to a conclusion. Hopefully you have an idea.
Does Cast needs to be installed and configured for this to work? As I wrote in the "Cast" subforum I also have issues with this piece of software. :/

Any hints are highly appreciated! Thanks and best regards,

-Björn

Please relook at the instructions on how to set your ifttt applet up - based on what is being shown as being sent from ifttt in your push2run log the applet is not set up correctly.

Try exiting the push2run windows application if it is running on your PC; it may be interfering.

OK, after a few tests I found out that on IFTTT everything was fine. The entry in the log is from playing around with messaging between clients.
I have a test environment in which I installed the Google Assistant SDK and this one catched my IFTTT commands instantly. So the reason needs to be located on the Android device side. My intention tells me it is because of the custom ROM my Android phone is running (Lineage OS). I also had issues with Chromecast/Screen Sharing with the same build.
