Push2Run does not work with VPN (PIA)

I recently started using a VPN and Push2Run will not work anymore...
I am using PIA (private internet access)

Does anyone know of a fix/work around?

depending on how your VPN is configured, you may have issues with connectivity to/from various servers/services. I would advise ensuring your backend that pushes messages to push2run is able to communicate to your computer when the VPN is active.

Have you tried each of pushbullet, pushover and dropbox?

With pushbullet are you able to connect to this URL: https://stream.pushbullet.com/
and see something like this:
