Push2Run Receives Command but dos not execute

Post by Aceofspadespb »

I recently got a Google Home mini and was eager to set up a way to turn off my computer by voice command. I followed the instructions to the letter from this video: https://youtu.be/Xu2uuqprQtw

However whenever I tell my google mini to turn off my pc, push2run apparently receives the command but does not execute the shut down command. I know this because when I select the Actions tab there is an option to "Run Shutdown". Any idea of how this can be automated? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Please double check your setup against what is recommended here: https://push2run.com/setup.html

Also, please take a look in your Session Log (Main menu - Actions - Session Log) there is likely a clue as to why it is not working as you expected.

If after looking you can fix it great, otherwise please post back here with the contents of your session log, as well as a screenshot of your Push2Run card.

I'm having similar issue. the applets are executed (as per ifttt site) and the commands are definitely received by push2run (session log shows incoming pushbullet push, title, body, and 'action completed') but the commands arent executed.

there are 3 scenarios where i run push2run, the 3rd one is where it breaks:

Boot up PC with push2run, it automatically logs in.
Tell push2run to restart the PC, works fine.

Boot up PC with push2run, it automatically logs in.
Remote desktop into that PC, the local session is logged off.
Tell push2run to restart the PC, works fine.

Remote desktop into that PC, the local session is logged off.
Close the remote desktop windows on the remote PC.
Tell push2run to restart the PC, the push is received but the command isnt executed.

I've also tried logging off the remote desktop connection instead of just closing window, didnt help.
However, if i log on again locally after closing remote desktop, push2run works fine again.

I think your issue is completely different.

I'll have to test for this; are you using Windows Remote Desktop Connection?

Sorry, I haven't forgotten you. While I have a second computer configured which I use to be able to remote into, I'm having issues doing that for testing. I suspect my new wireless network router is not set up in the way it should be, and have a post on their support forum. If I can get that figured out I can look further into the issue your reporting. However, I doubt the issue you are reporting is a Push2Run thing, rather a Windows security thing.

Regardless, in your third example below, you say ...
Tell push2run to restart the PC, the push is received but the command isn't executed.

Can you please confirm once you connect back into the machine, and look in the Push2Run session log, what you exactly you see in it as it relates to the command being received and processed?

ok - I finally got configured, but can't recreate the problem.

Here is what I tried

remote connected to the other pc - have push2run running on that pc
issued a command (open the calculator) - it worked
closed the calculator on the remote pc
disconnected the remote connection session
issued a command (open the calculator)
remote connected to the other pc
the calculator was open on the remote pc (meaning that Push2Run received and actioned the command correctly)

Are you able to do the above?

odd, it works fine for me.

Are you remoting in with the same user id that you use when you are physically working at the machine?

yep same one. its a microsoft account, not a local account on each machine, which was setup during windows install. no local account was ever created on either machine. not sure if that makes a difference.

i also had to do this: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/165 ... 0#16526680 specifically for remote shutdown command to work. maybe this screwed something up.

in any case, sounds like a corner case, i appreciate you checking it out.
